Seasonal Paintings
Between 2008 and 2011, I explored a painting series largely influenced by nature's seasons. Although fall has been a strong favorite due to its bursting colors and changes, I appreciate each season for the unique beauty it displays. Each painting uses some sort of mixed media element, including things such as leaves, shells, sand, and fabric to further communicate the seasonal feeling. Being raised in Central Pennsylvania, the seasons are a significant part of my life and the way I relate to my surroundings. I especially appreciate the ways the colors and textures change in each season, and sought to communicate those distinctions through my paintings. The paintings shown here are just a few from the series, as I have sold and shared many of them. Each season holds so much hope for us as we continually change as human beings, as well as in relation to the environments we inhabit. Some of these paintings communicate parallel seasons of my personal life as I related to their environmental seasons.
